Bill Frisell at The Afterbeat Festival

Saturday, October 6th - Festival Begins at 6:00

From Cajun dance music to hard-driving bluegrass, a jazz guitar legend, one of Brazil’s premier bands, and an Americana duo on the verge of the big time, the Afterbeat Festival features award-winning performers and a dizzying array of great music. Taking place Friday and Saturday, October 5th and 6thfrom 6:00 p.m. to midnight and encompassing three different venues within the Clifton Center, this festival is unlike any in the region. This is a festival built on a notion best expressed by the great Duke Ellington: “There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind.” Genre labels have no place here – only great musicians and great music in a truly unique setting.

With three performance venues running simultaneously throughout the evening, the Festival’s performers will take advantage of the wide variety of settings the historic Clifton Center has to offer. For the first time, the Center’s Reception Hall will be transformed into an intimate club setting with cabaret style seating at tables. A cash bar and food will be available throughout the performances. And for an even more intimate experience, audience members will join performers in the Clifton Center’s Frankfort Room for unplugged performances as intimate as if it were in your own living room.

This is the debut of what will become an annual event, and with an All-World lineup, a unique, intimate and historic setting, the Afterbeat Festival is destined for permanent place on Louisville’s annual music calendar.
